Combating-Violence Forum Condemns Torture Suffered by Female Prisoners

Palestinian Local Organizations Forum for Combating-Violence Against Women condemned torture suffered by female Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, in particular the extreme psychological and physical torture experienced by three girl prisoners: Heba Al-Labadi, Mays Abu Ghush and Samah Jaradat.

Prisoners Heba Al-Labadi, arrested in 20-8-2019, in her way from Jordan to Palestine, has experienced since 35 days a continues Israeli investigation in very harsh conditions in the detention centers of Betah Tikva and Al-Jalama. Each investigation with Al-Labadi continued for more than 20 hours every day, while being handcuffed on a chair fixed to the ground.

The Forum considers such practices against female prisoners as illegitimate and blatantly contradicts the international law, in particular article (1/2) of Combating-Violence convention, signed by the state of occupation in the third of October, 1991.

Such crimes Violate a number of international agreements and conventions, and most importantly, the International Declaration of Human Rights, and the Body of Principles for the Protection of All Persons under Any Form of Detention or Imprisonment, adopted in 1988.
