In 2021 – the number of settlers storming Al-Aqsa Mosque exceeded the number of “tourists”

33,495 extremist settlers, under the protection of the occupation police, stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the past year 2021, and 24,327 “tourists” visited it. This is the first time since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967 where the number of settlers who stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque exceeds the number of “tourists.”

It is noteworthy that since the rise of Likud Party Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu to power in 2009, the number of settlers storming AL- Haram  Al-Qudsi began to appear in the thousands and increasing annually, due to his government’s  policy of encouraging settlers storming.

Since 2017, the number of settlers has doubled, as 30,219 settlers stormed the AL- Haram  Al-Qudsi in the year. In the following year, 2018, the number of settlers who stormed AL- Haram  Al-Qudsi increased to 35,695 settlers. In 2019, 37,708 settlers stormed AL- Haram  Al-Qudsi.

The number of settlers who stormed AL- Haram  Al-Qudsi in 2020 decreased to 19,814, due to the spread of the Corona virus in March.
