Weekly Report on Israeli Violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

Summary:
A Palestinian suffering from a psychological disorder was martyred, and 16 civilians, including 5 children, were injured in the excessive use of force by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank. On December 31, 2021, the Israeli occupation forces killed Amir Atef Khader Rayan, 36 years, with a disability (psychological disorder), near the junction of Haris village, north of Salfit, for allegedly attempting to carry out a stabbing attack. According to field investigations, there was a distance of several meters between the soldiers’ location and the place where the dead citizen was targeted, which means that he did not pose a serious threat to the soldiers’ lives, and thus this crime reflects the unjustified leniency in the instructions to shoot by the occupation forces and the disregard for the lives of Palestinians. It was documented that three Palestinians were injured, one of them seriously, in Jerusalem, two Palestinians, including a child, in Nablus, and 11 Palestinians, including 4 children, in Qalqilya. Dozens also suffered from suffocation as a result of inhaling the tear gas. In the Gaza Strip, the occupation forces opened fire eight times at agricultural lands, and four times at fishermen’s boats, east and west of Gaza Strip.

- The occupation army erected (52) sudden checkpoints between the cities and towns of the West Bank, which impeded the normal movement of Palestinians between the cities and towns of the West Bank.
