967Palestinian administrative detainees in Israeli prisons

Israel holds 967 Palestinian prisoners in its prisons-from the West Bank, Jerusalem and the 48 territories- without trial.

The military occupation courts approved 90% of administrative detention orders last year, and these courts canceled 1% of administrative detention orders, according to data provided by the Israeli army to Haaretz

Administrative detainees are prisoners without trial, without judicial procedures or indictments, and lawyers for administrative detainees are prevented from seeing any evidence against their clients, except for a summary of the charges against them based on secret intelligence information

Administrative detention orders are signed by the commander of the central region of the occupation army, and are presented to judges whose courts are closed to the public.

According to the data of the Israeli army, during the past year 2022, 2076 administrative detention orders were issued against Palestinian citizens, and the military courts considered 2016 arrest warrants and approved 90% of them. In 7% of these orders, the duration of the military order was shortened.

An administrative detention order against a citizen in the 48 territories is signed by the Israeli Minister of Security, and the authorities are obligated to submit the order to the head of a central court within 48 hours, while the military order against a citizen in the West Bank is submitted within 8 days, and to a relatively low-ranking military judge, which confirms the practices of arbitrary, especially since the military courts do not overrule the orders of the army and the Shin Bet

It is noteworthy that the administrative detention order is between 3 and 6 months and may be renewed again or repeatedly
