MK from the Ben Gvir party: There is no doubt that I will shoot at the Palestinians in the village of Burqa

A member of the extremist “Otzma Yehudit” party, which is headed by the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, said that if he were in the place, he would “without a doubt” shoot the 19-year-old Qusay Ma’atan, who was killed in the village of Burqa in the Occupied West Bank, last Friday, by settlers, during a terrorist attack targeting the village.

“If I were in the field, of course I would shoot,” MK Almog Cohen stated in remarks made on Radio 103 FM.

And the extremist Cohen reiterated his position, saying: “There is no doubt about that at all.”

After the killing of the Maatan, the extremist minister, Ben Gvir, called for awarding a “Medal of Appreciation” and providing legal immunity for the settler, Elisha Yared, who shot and killed Qusai.

It is noteworthy that the United Nations indicated a significant increase in attacks carried out by settlers in the occupied West Bank against Palestinians and their property, with about 600 attacks recorded since the beginning of this year 2023.

The United Nations agency for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA) said it recorded 591 settler-related attacks in the occupied territories in the first six months of 2023, resulting in Palestinian injuries, property damage, or both.

“This represents an average of 99 incidents each month, an increase of 39% compared to the monthly average for the whole of 2022, which is 71,” OCHA spokesman Jens Laerke told reporters in Geneva.
