The Walla! news website reported that 110 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli jails since Itamar Ben-Gvir assumed office as Israeli Defense Minister.
According to data previously released by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, the number of prisoners and detainees who have died since the start of the war has exceeded 100. The identities of 84 of them have been documented, including 50 detainees from Gaza. This brings the total number of prisoners who have died since 1967 to 321, all of whom have been officially documented by the relevant Palestinian institutions.
The violations within the prisons constitute part of an ongoing “war of extermination” aimed at carrying out slow executions of prisoners. Prisoner support organizations consider this period “the bloodiest in the history of the Palestinian prisoner movement,” especially given the current Israeli government’s efforts to legalize the execution of Palestinian prisoners and transform it from a de facto policy into law.
It should be noted that the majority of prisoners and detainees are held without trial, either under arbitrary administrative detention or classified by Israel as “unlawful combatants.”
According to data updated as of the end of November 2025, the number of administrative detainees reached 3,368, while the number classified as “unlawful combatants” reached 1,205, not including the number of detainees from Gaza whose numbers Israel has not yet officially disclosed.
