Journalistic Investigation: Israeli Army Killed Palestinian with 18 Bullets for Carrying a Water Bottle

An Israeli journalistic investigation has revealed details surrounding the killing of Palestinian Ahmed Shahada (57 years old) from the town of Awarta at the Al-Murabba’a checkpoint south of Nablus last September. The investigation confirms that occupation forces shot him despite him posing no threat.

According to the investigation, soldiers fired 18 bullets at Shahada, including eight after he had fallen to the ground. He was carrying nothing more than a plastic water bottle, contrary to the Israeli narrative at the time, which claimed he was carrying a suspicious object.

The investigation indicated that the soldiers later admitted there was no actual danger and that Shahada was only carrying a plastic water bottle.

The investigation also revealed that despite the documented incident and the availability of testimonies, the occupation authorities did not open any criminal investigations. The Israeli army limited itself to an internal investigation conducted by the unit’s command.
