Israeli soldiers shot driver Ahmed Salim despite him standing with his hands raised

Eyewitness accounts and the Gaza Truck Drivers Union reported that Palestinian driver Ahmed Nasser Salim was killed by Israeli army fire while transporting humanitarian aid for the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in Rafah. The testimonies indicated that Israeli soldiers shot Salim after forcing him out of his truck, despite him standing with his hands raised, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.

Reports also stated that the humanitarian convoy consisted of four trucks and had stopped on the Philadelphi Corridor after one of the vehicles broke down. The convoy was on a mission to transport aid to the Gaza Strip, following prior coordination with relevant parties.

Furthermore, the soldiers forced the drivers out of their trucks, assaulted them, and subjected them to humiliating procedures before shooting Salim.

Ahmed’s father said, “They shot him between the eyes without saying a word.”

He added, “The Israeli army shot Ahmed after he got out to help another truck that had broken down.” According to eyewitnesses: The Israeli military ambulance that arrived at the scene refused to transport him for treatment, and the Israeli army threatened other drivers at the scene that they would be next.
