Occupied Jerusalem will witness a massive settlement movement this month

Israeli government has approved construction of 6,000 new units in occupied Jerusalem. “This is the fruit of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise to allow the settlement construction plans to proceed in the city,” said Meir Turgeman, deputy mayor of Jerusalem.

Judaization plans going on in occupied East Jerusalem

The so-called “Planning and Building Committee” of the occupation municipality approved the construction of 196 new settlement units in Jerusalem, including 98 housing units in Ramat Shlomo, 18 housing units for settlers in Beit Hanina and 80 housing units in Ramot.

The occupation Municipality plans to present plans to the local committee for construction and planning at its next meeting this week to build 800 settlement units in the settlements of Pisgat Ze’ev, Naveh Ya’aqov, Ramot and Gilo, all within the borders of occupied Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Planning District Committee plans to discuss a number of settlement projects in Palestinian neighborhoods in occupied Jerusalem, including four in Sheikh Jarrah.

The Israeli District Planning Committee will discuss the retroactive approval of eight housing units in Beit Urut settlement in As-Suwwana neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, as well as a plan to expand a synagogue in Neve Zion settlement on the lands of Jabal al-Mukaber.

These plans would deepen the settlement movement in the region, which would further complicate border demarcation in case of a political agreement to establish two capitals in Jerusalem.
