{"id":7087,"date":"2016-08-13T03:40:48","date_gmt":"2016-08-13T00:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wewiv.com\/?p=7087"},"modified":"2016-08-13T03:40:48","modified_gmt":"2016-08-13T00:40:48","slug":"israel-renders-53-palestinians-homeless-august-alone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wewiv.com\/en\/t7087\/israel-renders-53-palestinians-homeless-august-alone\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel renders 53 Palestinians homeless in August alone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Israel renders 53 Palestinians homeless in August alone; 2016 home demolition rate highest since 2006<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The spate of demolitions in the West Bank continues in full swing: in the past week and half, since the beginning of August 2016, Israel\u2019s Civil Administration demolished 20 homes and 13 other structures in Palestinian communities throughout the West Bank, leaving 53 people \u2013 including 25 minors \u2013 homeless. In total, Israel has demolished at least 188 Palestinian homes in the West Bank this year \u2013 the highest number since B\u2019Tselem began documenting home demolitions on grounds of \u201clack of building permit\u201d in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>All the homes demolished this month were in areas defined as Area C. Nine of them were inhabited intermittently, so their owners were not counted among the 53 persons left homeless. At least five of the demolished structures were donated by humanitarian aid organizations.<\/p>\n<p>9 August, Um al-Kheir community in the South Hebron Hills: five homes demolished, leaving 27 people \u2013 including 16 minors \u2013 homeless.<\/p>\n<p>8 August, Fasayil village in the Jordan Valley: two homes demolished, leaving 12 people \u2013 including seven minors \u2013 homeless. 4 August: Al-Mu\u2019arrajat community in the Jordan Valley: four homes demolished, leaving 14 people \u2013 including two minors \u2013 homeless.<\/p>\n<p>This month, the Civil Administration also demolished non-residential structures in the following Palestinian communities: Farsh al-Hawa, Khirbet a-Rakhim, and Fuqeiqis in the South Hebron Hills; a-Nueimeh and al-Jiftlik in the Jordan Valley; a-Nabi Samwil in Al-Quds District; and Sabastiya in Nablus District.<\/p>\n<p>These demolitions are a direct continuation of Israel\u2019s policy to step up and expand demolitions in the West Bank since the beginning of 2016.
