Only 3.8% of settlers’ crimes against Palestinians end in indictments

On Monday, February 7, 2022, Israeli data showed, that only 3.8% of crimes committed by terrorist settler gangs against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank end up with an indictment by the Israeli police.

According to Haaretz newspaper, between 2018-2020, more than 221 Palestinian complaints against settlers’ attacks out of 263 were neglected, and that there are only 10 cases in which indictments were filed, noting that the Israeli police make it difficult for Palestinians to file complaints against Settler gangs and often prevent Palestinians from filing complaints.

Data from Yesh Din reveal that the majority of cases are registered as against unknown persons, noting that between 2005 and 2021, 92% of complaints were closed without an indictment.

The Israeli human rights organization Yesh Din says that over the years, the policies of the Israeli governments and the occupation army have allowed the continuation of acts of violence and terror carried out by settler gangs against Palestinians.
