On 10 Feb. 2017, Madama residents went for an outing near the village. Soldiers came from the nearby settlement of Yitzhar, using tear gas. Ahmad Ziyadah, a B’Tselem volunteer who began filming the soldiers, was ordered to leave. Refusing, he was violently detained. A soldier fired a rubber-coated metal at short range at Ziyadah’s brother who tried to help him. Ziyadah, who did no more than film the soldiers, was detained for 6 days
