Israeli Violations Against Palestinian Journalists (For The Month of 11-2017)

In November 2017, Israeli occupying forces escalated their violations against Palestinian journalists

The number of Israeli violations amounted to 37 violations, including assaults, arrests, trials, extensions of detention and prevention of coverage.

Top violations

  • Four journalists were arrested: Mustafa Kharouf, cameraman Amin Kharouf, journalist Amjad Abu Arafa from Jerusalem, and journalist Bushra al-Tawil from Al-Bireh.
  • Israeli Ofer court sentenced the journalist Mohammad Omran to 18 months in prison and a fine of 1,000 shekels. The court also decided to sentence Montasser Nassar and Nidal Amro to 22 months in prison and fines of 5,000 NIS for both of them.
  • Occupation court transferred Bushra al-Tawil from Al-Bireh to administrative detention for six months.
  • Israeli occupation authorities prevented the journalist Shadi Abu Shaddak -from Gaza – from traveling to the West Bank for immediate treatment at the Nablus Medical Complex, despite receiving a referral for treatment abroad.
