On World of free Press Day, the occupation commits 183 crimes against Palestinian journalists

A report issued by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate on the World of free Press Day revealed serious violations and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian press from the beginning of the year 2021 until the end of April 2021. The most dangerous of which was direct shooting at journalists, as well as the apparent increase in arrests.

The Freedoms Committee of the Journalists Syndicate, on the occasion of World of free Press Day, revealed in a statement it published that the occupation regime has committed 183 crimes and attacks against the Palestinian press, including 67 cases of staff detention and preventing them from reporting, accompanied by 22 cases of physical assault, beating and kicking. 15 cases of suffocation by tear gas, with 10 journalists directly injured in the body by targeting them with tear gas canisters and stun grenades.

Nine journalists were wounded by metal bullets, with a clear increase in the number of arrests, which has reached to 14 cases since the beginning of 2021 and 12 cases of summons to investigate at the security centers.

Violations and crimes also included 10 cases of storming the homes of journalists and press institutions, as well as smashing and confiscating press equipment, threats, introducing to unfair courts, fines and attacks by police dogs.
