An approach to “Israeli ECAAP”

Dr. Ramzi Odah

The Israeli Officials and media sources have recently raised a wave of hatred against Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, as a result of a statement made during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, During which Mr. Abbas refused to apologize for the 1972 Munich Operation.

While the president’s office clarified in an official statement published two days ago in Wafa News Agency that the Holocaust was not denied, describing it as the most horrific historical massacre known to mankind in the modern era, the Israelis tampered with the president’s statements and hired them to serve their political goals, and to manipulate the public, describing it as “Holocaust denial”, a “falsification of history” and a “brutal lie”, as described by Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid.
As for the former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, he justified his position rejecting any direct negotiations with the Palestinian side, considering President Mahmoud Abbas “not a partner for peace because he denies the Holocaust”.
The Israeli Finance Minister Lieberman went beyond all political theories regarding the definition of terrorism, when he responded to the statements of the President, describing him as “practicing diplomatic terrorism and denying the Holocaust, and he is more dangerous to Israel than Hamas and Islamic Jihad!”

In this context, there are several points to conclude from Israeli reactions to this incident, which we summarize as follows:

1- The hostile Israeli statements fall within the context of feeding hatred, hostility and extremism in the region, and it will have a negative impact on the security and stability in the region.

2- The Holocaust is a historical fact that Mr.Abbas did not deny, but he sought in his statements to draw international attention to the Israeli massacres that are being committed daily against the Palestinian people.

3- The hostile Israeli statements fall within the context of justifying not engaging in any peaceful political process, which is illogical and contradicts international law, considering Israel a rogue state that occupies the lands of others by force and commits war crimes such as murder, abuse, building settlements and apartheid, and it disavows the rules of international law.

4- All countries must respect the right of Palestinians as people, leadership, political parties and government to defend themselves, resist the occupier and expose the crimes of the occupation. In this context, no one should expect the Palestinians to applaud and praise the occupying state in international conferences!

5- Countries and peoples do not apologize. It is not acceptable for peoples and states to apologize for their history of struggle and their resistance to the enemies and occupiers. Instead of asking the Palestinian people to apologize for the acts of resistance, the occupying power should be asked to withdraw from the occupied territories and recognize the state of Palestine.

As a result, we respect the Jewish victims whose lives were taken by Nazis, and consider it the most horrific racist massacre against the Jews. At the same time, the world must stand up and support the Palestinian people and prevent the policy of ethnic cleansing and apartheid against Palestinians by the Israeli occupation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. (E.C.A.A.P).
In this context, we do not compare the Holocaust with the Israeli massacre of the Palestinian people. But we remind the world of the necessity of confronting the Israeli ECAAP, just as it confronted the Nazi Holocaust.
As a result, the United Nations and all international organizations, as well as national and international courts, must criminalize all acts related to the Israeli ECAAP, just as they did on the issue of the Holocaust.
