Occupation Continues Arresting 170 Children Amid Bad Conditions

Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs affirmed that Israeli occupation forces continue arresting 170 children, distributed in prisons of “Ofer”, “Majedo” and “Damon” amid bad conditions.

The Commission said in its report issued in Tuesday 18-5-2023 that those prison lack the minimum level of living and humanitarian standards, whereas children prisoners are subjected to torture methods that contradict international standards of humanitarian laws.

It said that the violations against children in occupation prisons “did not occur in the history of rights and nations”, which constitute a shame on the forehead of this organization and international human rights organizations, which were unable to secure the minimum level of protection for these children.

The Commission said that the occupation forces have arrested since 2000 at least 17,000 Palestinian children, between the ages of (12-18) years, while many cases of arrest and detention of children under the age of 10 have been reported.

It explained that about three quarters of the detained children were subjected to some form of physical torture, while all detainees were subjected to psychological torture during the various stages of detention, according to the latest statistics and documented testimonies of them reported during  the visit of the legal staff in the occupation prisons.

The Commission stressed that the rate of arrested Jerusalemite minors is the highest, whereas dozens of them are arrested daily and detained illegally, in addition to imposing a policy of house arrest against them, deportation from Jerusalem, and imposing heavy fines against them.
