United Nations: Israel Displaced Nearly 40,000 Palestinians in the West Bank Since the Beginning of 2025

New York, May 9, 2026 – Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated that Israel has displaced nearly 40,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of 2025.

In a press briefing at UN Headquarters in New York, where he presented data on the situation of Palestinians based on reports from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), he added that house demolitions carried out by Israeli settlers in the West Bank during the first week of May resulted in the displacement of 42 Palestinians, including 24 children.

He explained that the Israeli occupation army and armed settlers, who launch attacks under the army’s protection, continue their relentless assaults in all West Bank cities.

He emphasized that the settlers’ attacks target “Palestinians and their property, who are the indigenous inhabitants of the area.”
