The United States ambassador to the United Nations, Nicky Hailey, received “high-heeled shoes” as a symbolic gift from the Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman. The shoes have political implications in their heels. Lieberman met with the American ambassador, who is visiting Israel officially, in his office in Tel Aviv, and gave her at the beginning the shoes model.

“You are a true friend of Israel and we appreciate and respect the great help you offer and the struggle you are managing against anyone who tries to harm us and distort our image,” Lieberman said to Haley. He added, “We remember with great appreciation when you said you arrived in with high-heeled shoes to beat anyone who insults and distort Israel. With respect and appreciation, we present this memorial and urge you to use it if necessary.”
