Deepening Racism: The Administration of Rambam Hospital in Israel Prohibits employees from Speaking Arabic

The Rambam hospital’s administration in Haifa forbade employees and medical staff from speaking Arabic or any language other than Hebrew during the staff’s professional meetings and while roaming the hospital facilities.

The director of “Rambam”, Prof. Ravi Pierre, chose the Hebrew Passover holiday to announce about the ban on Arabic language. He offered congratulations to the staff of the hospital, and at the same time ordered them to write and speak only Hebrew in the hospital.

“I would like to make sure that the working language of Rambam’s staff, doctors, nurses, secretaries is Hebrew,” Pierre wrote in an e-mail to the staff.
