Dina closed her eyes fearing Israeli rockets, but can’t open them again !!

Dina, who is nine years old, has not found her way to flee the agonies of war into another world that is free from the smell of gunpowder and the color of blood.

She can’t do anything but to close her eyes and imagine herself eating a piece of candy and having fun with her brothers around their house, as she used to do in her normal life.

All of these wishes are just illusions in the light of the continued Israeli war against Gaza.
Dina still remembers the last time when she fled from the ghost of this war into the haven of her wishes. Her only wish was to survive with her family in the light of the Israeli foolish bombardment arbitrarily targeting the area surrounding her house.
After only some minutes, four shells fired by the Israeli artillery seized her wishes. She was severely wounded by the shrapnel of these shells which made her unable to open her eyes again.

“Now, she can’t open or close her eyes whenever she wants,” her aunt Bahaa Khaleefa said.

“The shrapnel caused many burns and holes to her face,” Anadol news agency correspondent said. “Doctors have not known whether she will be able to open her eyes again, whether she became blind. Her health situation is still vague” she added.

At 4:00 AM, the time of the bombardment, she was sleeping next to her six brothers in a room which was deemed by her father to be the safer place in the house, but she and her brothers severely suffered shrapnel wounds.

Dina said that the Israeli bombardment is random and targets the areas inhabited by civilians. She also added that the moment of the shelling is “terrifying”, whereas at that night she couldn’t see anything other than children’s faces mixed with dust and blood.
