Intensifying Incitement – Israeli Minister Demands Police Confiscate Loudspeakers from Mosques

Israeli Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman, from the Likud party led by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, demanded that Police Chief Danny Levy take immediate action against what she described as “severe violations in the use of loudspeakers in mosques,” focusing on three mosques in Jerusalem, Jaffa, and Lod.

According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, this came according to an official letter Silman sent to the police. The letter stated that the ministry had monitored “repeated complaints regarding noise from the use of loudspeakers in mosques.” The minister identified the mosques as Al-Siksik in Jaffa, Al-Omari Al-Kabir in Lod, and Silwan in Jerusalem.

The minister noted that “the calls to prayer (the call to prayer) in mosques, repeated five times a day, violate this law and significantly impact the quality of life,” she claimed.

Concluding her letter to the police chief, Minister Idit Silman asked the police to prepare a detailed report including a timetable for removing loudspeakers from mosques and buildings used for religious purposes.

Minister Idit Silman had previously stated regarding the Gaza Strip that “the only solution for the Gaza Strip is to empty it of its population,” describing this step as “realistic.”

In an interview with Reshet Bet Radio, Silman said that the Netanyahu government is “committed to the idea of encouraging immigration,” adding that she believes “God sent us the American administration, and it is telling us clearly—the time has come to control the land.”
